Portrait of the Thu Thiri Sanda Wadi, Princess of Taingda (1865-1952). She was the daughter of King Mindin of Burma and recognised as one of his most beautiful daughters. She was a renowned goldsmith with a particular expertise in the use of gems and precious metals. In formal settings Burmese women generally wore their hair coiled into a bun on top of their heads. In this portrait the Princess’ hair is let loose as a symbol of her youth and beauty. . . . #burma #burmese #myanmar #rangoon #asianhistory #vintageportrait #reclaimyourcrown
